How long can diesel be stored in a fuel tank?
The ideal storage life of diesel fuel depends on several factors, including:
- Storage conditions: Cool, dark, and dry environments are best. Exposure to sunlight and heat can accelerate fuel degradation.
- Fuel quality: Fresh, high-quality diesel will generally store for longer periods.
- Presence of contaminants: Water and dirt contamination can significantly shorten the lifespan of stored diesel.
Generally, under optimal conditions, clean diesel can last for up to 12 months in storage. However, it’s always recommended to consult your fuel supplier or refer to the manufacturer’s recommendations for specific storage advice.
Can you put petrol in a diesel pod?
Absolutely not! Petrol and diesel are completely different fuels, and using the wrong fuel in your engine can cause serious damage. Rapid Spray’s diesel pods and tanks are specifically designed for storing and dispensing diesel fuel only. Using a diesel pod for petrol can also be a fire hazard.
Always ensure you are using the correct fuel type for your equipment and that you clearly label your diesel storage containers to avoid any confusion.
